GDPR PART II - Free live webinar to help you prepare for the legislation
By now you have probably heard: on May 25, 2018, you must comply with the new European privacy legislation called G eneral D ata P rotection R egulation or A lgemene V erordening G egevensbescherming in Dutch. With this blog series, we will try to give you the necessary tips to make sure your online store is compliant even after May 25, 2018!
Have you already started?
If all goes well, you have long since started vetting your business and its various information flows. As a WebwinkelKeur quality mark holder, you at least have a privacy policy, because this is one of the points on which your online store will be checked. But have you looked at your privacy policy at a later date and wondered if the agreements you make still fit today's practice? The implementation of the GDPR is a good time to reflect on this. Because even if nothing has changed within your company as far as the processing of personal data is concerned, you probably still need to update your privacy policy. Based on the new privacy law, data subjects (persons whose data you process) have acquired a number of 'new' rights. In addition to the 'right to oblivion' (the right to have all data deleted), the right to have the data amended and the right of inspection, which you are already familiar with, in the future you may, for example, also receive requests to have the data transferred to another processor. Thus, in cases where you yourself, as a data controller, are also a processor of that data, a customer may ask you to provide the data you have collected about them for transfer to another processor. It is important that you explain to your customers in the privacy policy what rights they have and how they can exercise them. We will provide a model privacy policy to WebwinkelKeur quality mark holders by the end of this year.
We will help you with your preparations!
To help you get started with the implementation of the GDPR, we have created the GDPR Dashboard especially for you. Here, under the heading ' information ' you can learn what the GDPR means for you based on a number of topics. Because we have noticed that a large group of entrepreneurs at the end of 2017 still have many questions about the GDPR, we are offering you a free live webinar on January 23, 2018 between 19.00 and 20.30 (on the eve of the Webwinkelvakdagen in the Jaarbeurs Utrecht). During this webinar, we will get you up to speed on the main points of the new privacy legislation in half an hour and take an hour to answer your questions.
