Colleague of the month for March: Peter!

For more than six years Peter has been a familiar face within WebwinkelKeur's development team. Peter is the sole front-end developer and works daily to build and improve the platform, from new widgets to a completely redesigned website and dashboard. Peter is one of our three colleagues living in Sofia, Bulgaria. Outside of work, his life these days is mostly dedicated to his family and his eight-month-old son. In this blog he talks more about his work, his daily routine and why he calls himself a "coffee snob".

Do you feel you are a valued colleague within WebwinkelKeur?

Being the only front-end developer (in a team of two developers) really makes me feel valued. In addition, the way this company takes its employees' opinions seriously is unique, and that really makes us feel valuable.

If you could travel anywhere, where would you go and why?

I really need a vacation, so maybe a nice spa in the mountains (we have those here in Bulgaria too) sounds very appealing.

What do you like to do in your free time?

If you read my previous blog post, you probably noticed that I didn't have much free time then because I was busy with all kinds of activities. But... times changed! As a father of an 8-month-old boy, I can say that in my free time I either play with my child, run errands, cook or do other things around the house, or take a walk with my family. happy family life :D

What does a typical workday look like for you?

Getting up, morning routine, taking care of the baby, breakfast, coffee, stand-up meeting, work, lunch break, work. Can't be more boring! Right? :D But if you ask what exactly I do during those working hours - well, answer emails, work on projects, build new things, maintain old systems, fix bugs, help customer service with tough questions, and so on.

What is something that most colleagues don't know about you?

That's a tough question. Especially for someone like me, who has been working for WebwinkelKeur for a long time. Perhaps the fact that I used to be in three car accidents. No one got hurt, only a couple of cars got damaged....

What are you looking forward to at WebwinkelKeur?

I would like to see our company grow internationally. Of course we already have our international label ValuedShops, but here we can still make strides and here we have already started. Let's make the e-commerce world in the EU safer than ever!

What can you really NOT live without?

That has to be COFFEE. I am really addicted to it, which may not be a good thing, but it's no different. Oh, and I should mention that I only drink specialty coffee. Yes, call me a "coffee snob". (Some inside information: when Peter is at the office in Enschede, there are only 2 or 3 coffee joints in the center that meet having 'good coffee').

What do you prefer to eat for lunch on a workday?

Oh, I like that question. I have quite a list, which looks like this: a nice hot meal of two or three courses, a burger with fries, a pizza, barbecue... and sometimes a sandwich with salad and banitsa (Bulgarian pastry with feta cheese-like cheese). Huh, Peter! Not a fan of bread with cheese? :P

What achievement at WebwinkelKeur are you most proud of?

I think it's quite an achievement to have been with the company for more than six years. I am also proud of all the fun projects I have been working on lately. Like the new website, the new widgets, the renewal of the dashboard, the new member page(spoiler!?) and much more. I love my job and all the great things we have created together.
