What are multi-platform review requests, and why are they becoming increasingly important for online stores?

Written by Lilian van Engelen

Have you heard of multi-platform review requests? If you’re a member of ValuedShops, you probably have, since this handy service is available to all members! Still, not everyone knows what multi-platform review requests are and why they’re important for your online store. Time to change that and give your review score a major boost! Where do you look for reviews first when you’re about to place an order with an online store for the first time? On the website itself? On Google, Trustpilot, or on one of the other platforms like Beslist, TrustedShops, Bol.com, etc.? There are various platforms where customers can leave reviews for your online store. And customers often choose for themselves where they do that. As a result, the reviews of your store on Trustpilot might paint a more negative picture of your customers’ experiences than the reviews you receive via ValuedShops or another platform. This is confusing, because potential customers don’t know what to believe. And it’s a shame, because that could cost you customers!

What are multi-platform review requests?

With multi-platform review requests, you can set up your ValuedShops account so that a portion of your review requests to customers are directed to different platforms. You can specify which platforms these are. Currently, you can choose from:

  • Facebook
  • Google
  • Trustpilot
  • Kiyoh

Suppose you’re going to send out 10 review requests. You can, for example, set it up so that 50% of them go to ValuedShops, 30% to Google, and 20% to Facebook (see image). This way, you collect reviews on those different platforms and can manage everything from one place. Nice and organized! Have you received few reviews on a particular platform recently, or is your score there a bit lower? Then you can (temporarily) direct more review requests there so that your potential customers get a more balanced and realistic picture of what they can expect from your online store. How do multi-platform review requests work?

The multi-platform review requests feature is automatically enabled. You’ll find it under ‘Invitations > Multi-Platform,’ where you can select which platforms you want to ‘enable’ for your review requests. Up to 50% of your review requests can be sent to platforms outside of ValuedShops. Once you’ve activated the feature, invitations will be automatically sent to those platforms.

What about the other way around—all my reviews in one place?

Good question: because it’s super convenient to display all your reviews from different platforms in one place. And you can do that, on your member page! With every package, you can display your reviews from different platforms on your member page. You can read more about it here.

Getting started with multi-platform review requests

Do you want to start using multi-platform review requests? You’ll find this review request feature in your dashboard (under Invitations > Multi-Platform). Do you want to switch from another review provider but don’t want to lose the reviews you’ve built up there? You can often switch while keeping your reviews. Check here to see how to do that.
