Honest reviews, that's how we do it!

You deal with it every day. Reviews! Fun, funny, not fun, unfair and even fake reviews are sometimes posted. We are proud to be part of this wonderful process, but sometimes there is a little more involved.

A new law as of May 28, 2022

There it is! A new law to ensure that all reviews are real. And that, of course, is positive news 😊 no one wants to receive, or read, fake reviews. On May 28, 2022 new rules for reviews go into effect, in this blog you could already read something about that. Maybe you already know this, but fake reviews are not only written by consumers. Unfortunately it sometimes happens that merchants post fake reviews. This is finally coming to an end! The new law should ensure that both the store and the consumer are better protected. Do you use our review system? Below you can read what we do to collect only honest reviews, and what you can do to collect honest reviews.

What do we do to combat (fake) fake reviews?

We use a Fake Review systemThe new law is still going into effect, but we are already familiar with fake reviews. Therefore, we have a system that detects fake reviews. Our starting point is that all reviews should be honest, so that the consumer has an honest picture of a web store. If there are fake reviews among them, the consumer gets a distorted picture of the web store. After yourcustomerhas placed an order, we send an email asking for a review. This way we can be sure that a "real" customer is writing the review. These reviews also state that it is a verified customer. So the customer must be an existing customer who has bought something from you or used your service(s). Through your member page you can also write a review, with these reviews the customer gets a verification email after writing a review. If it is not a real customer, you can submit a moderation request. We then investigate whether the review is actually a fake review. If so, we remove it.We have established conditions that a review must meetIn our terms of use, we explain what we expect from a review. And what happens if your customer does not comply with these conditions. For example, we ask the customer if the review can be modified. But if it's a fake review not written by a real customer, you can count on us.We don't distinguish between negative and positive reviewsA customer leaves a low review while you do your best for the best service! We understand, it's not fair sometimes. And it also makes perfect sense that you would prefer to receive only positive reviews. A consumer is allowed to share their experience, even if it sometimes causes disappointment to the merchant. How best to deal with this, you can read here. An important part of the new law is that as a merchant you show that all reviews are posted. So the nice and positive, but also the less nice and negative reviews. We therefore post all reviews!Only the consumer, and we (WebwinkelKeur) can change a reviewHonesty is the best policy! Therefore, as a merchant you cannot adjust a review yourself. The consumer can adjust the review himself. Or we do this if the review does not meet our conditions. We always do this in consultation with the consumer.

You would think that this is a fun way to collect reviews. After all, your customer gets something in return. As sweet as this is meant to be, we advise you not to do this.
